Welsh 3000's Three Day Challenge - Itinerary

Summit all of Wales' 3000' Mountains, all within the stunning vistas of the Snowdonia National Park.  These awesome, yet highly contrasting, peaks offer the hill-walker a fantastic challenge weekend of varied exhilaration.

Friday - The Carneddau

We start our challenge weekend on the mountain range of the Carneddau.  We summit 7 mountains, and cover 21km, including Carnedd Llewelyn (3484'/1064m) and Pen yr Ole Wen (3210'/978m).  This is the longest day but takes in the quiet wilderness of these most northern summits

Saturday - The Glyderau

A 15km trek over the giant granite and rugged peaks of the Glyders.  5 summits, including Tryfan (3010'/917m) and Glyder Fawr (3284'/1001m), are today's challenge.    The Glyders' northern faces, towering above Ogwen valley, are bold with magnificent formed buttresses and deeply gouged cwms, many containing delightful tarns.

Sunday -The Snowdon Massif

A fantastic finale to the long weekend.  The Soaring heights of the Snowdon Massif is the aim for today's 3000' mountains.  The knife like arête of Crib Goch (3023'/924m) is the first leading on to Carnedd Ugain (3493'/1065m) with a grand finale on the highest of all 15 summits (and the highest peak south of the Scottish border), Snowdon (3560'/1085m).
