Saturday - Cadair Idris
Cadair Idris, the ‘chair’ of the legendary Idris,
a giant mythological hero and relative of King Arthur, is an
isolated massif, a stone’s throw from the sea. It stands on
guard, with its deep cwms, precipitous buttresses and towering
crags, as the most southern high mountain range in Snowdonia.
This
dramatic mountain trek passes through Cwm Cau and Llyn Cau (The
Shut-in Valley and Lake), described by many as the one of the
finest cwms in all of Wales. Craig Cwm Amarch (Amarch Valley
Rock) is the first summit, followed by the highest point of the
Cadair Idris massif, Penygadair (The High Seat), and finally
Mynydd Moel (Bare Mountain).
A classic
mountain trek of unforgettable views. |
